Kroptek’s Achievements in Controlled-Environmental Solutions

Innovate UK grant funding

Kroptek participated in the Smart Greens project and won a grant funding award for its integrated CEA solutions. The funding was provided by Innovate UK, the United Kingdom’s innovation agency. This non-departmental public body operates at arm’s length from the Government, as part of the United Kingdom Research and Innovation organisation.

The project, in partnership with the University of Nottingham, consisted in developing an innovative electricity-generating transparent glass used in glasshouses for use in a new integrated smart and controlled-environment farming solution.

Alongside academic and commercial partners, Kroptek is involved in the development of fully integrated CEA solutions using photovoltaic glass to be used in glasshouses. This project outcome will support Kroptek in its mission of developing commercial solutions in the AgriTech sector.

This initiative sits alongside Kroptek’s several other R&D initiatives, including the use of ultraviolets in horticulture lighting and CEA solutions.
